Estimation of multivalued treatment effects under conditional independence

چکیده
This article discusses the poparms command that implements two semiparametric estimators for multivalued treatment effects discussed in Cattaneo (2010). The first is a properly reweighted inverse-probability weighted estimator and the second is an efficient-influence-function estimator which can be interpreted as having the double-robust property. Our implementation jointly estimates means and quantiles of the potential-outcome distributions allowing for multiple, discrete treatment levels. These estimators are then used to estimate a variety of multivalued treatment effects. We discuss preand postestimation approaches that can be used in conjunction with our main implementation. We illustrate the program and provide a simulation study assessing the finite-sample performance of the inference procedures.

Properties of Weak Conditional Independence
Object-oriented Bayesian networks (OOBNs) facilitate the design of large Bayesian networks by allowing Bayesian networks to be nested inside of one another. Weak conditional independence has been shown to be a necessary and sufficient condition for ensuring consistency in OOBNs. Since weak conditional independence plays such an important role in OOBNs, in this paper we establish two useful resu...
متن کاملIdentification and Estimation of Causal Effects of Multiple Treatments Under the Conditional Independence Assumption
Identification and Estimation of Causal Effects of Multiple Treatments Under the Conditional Independence Assumption The assumption that the assignment to treatments is ignorable conditional on attributes plays an important role in the applied statistic and econometric evaluation literature. Another term for it is conditional independence assumption. This paper discusses identification when the...
متن کاملThe Implication of Probabilistic Conditional Independence and Embedded Multivalued Dependency
It has been suggested that Bayesian networks and relational databases are different because the implication problems for probabilistic conditional independence and embedded multivalued dependency do not always coincide. The present study indicates that the implication problems coincide on solvable classes of dependencies and differ on unsolvable classes. We therefore maintain that Bayesian netw...
متن کاملReasoning about Saturated Conditional Independence Under Uncertainty: Axioms, Algorithms, and Levesque's Situations to the Rescue
The implication problem of probabilistic conditional independencies is investigated in the presence of missing data. Here, graph separation axioms fail to hold for saturated conditional independencies, unlike the known idealized case with no missing data. Several axiomatic, algorithmic, and logical characterizations of the implication problem for saturated conditional independencies are establi...
متن کاملR.E. Axiomatization of Conditional Independence
The paper investigates properties of the conditional independence relation between pieces of information. This relation is also known in the database theory as embedded multivalued dependency. In 1980, Parker and Parsaye-Ghomi established that the properties of this relation can not be described by a finite system of inference rules. In 1995, Herrmann proved that the propositional theory of thi...
